University of Douala logoThe University of Douala (UNIDOU - UDLA) was created on January 19, 1993 as part of a Cameroun governmental effort to decentralize and redistribute the student body of the University of Yaounde - until then the sole university in Cameroon.
The Douala University is housed on the campuses of l'Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC - 1977) and l'Ecole Normale d'Enseignement Technique (ENSET - 1979).
The university is thus a combination of the already existing 1977 and 1979 university centers in Douala Cameroon
With Seventy two (72) vocational programs and a good number of specialty schools, the University of Douala now has over 45, 000 students and is one of the largest of Cameroon's six (6) states own universities.
